Palazzo Costa was built on a project by the famous architect Ferdinando Bibiena in 1693. The room on the main floor (1699) was created in collaboration with Giovanni Evangelista Draghi, and developed on five architectural perspective orders. The other rooms today host the Museo Ambientale and gather a large number of 18th century furniture and paintings. Of particular interest is the “Salvator Rosa” room, which takes its name by the presence of an important collection of paintings and engravings by this artist from Naples (Naples 1615- Rome 1673).

Among all the works by this artist, considered one of the major representatives of 17th century painting - “Mario davanti alle rovine di Cartagine" stands out. This painting was also exhibited in Naples at Museo di Capodimonte, for the “Salvator Rosa fra mito e magia” exhibition. Apart from Salvator Rosa’s paintings there are works by Mario Nuzzi, called “Mario dei Fiori”, Sisto Badalocchi, Andrea Sacchi, and a collection of sculptures from the 14th to the 18th century.
