Until the 21st of July every Friday night there will be the possibility to admire the frescoes by Guercino by climbing up the dome in the Cathedral.

Until th 21st of July the exhibition at the Cathedral is still going to be opened. Guercino, the 17th century artist born in Cento (Cento, FE, 1591 – Bologna, 1666), left important works of art in the city.

Opening Times:
7th July: 6 pm - 12 am (the ticket office closes at 11 pm)
14th July: 6 pm - 12 am (the ticket office closes at 11 pm)
21st July: 6 pm - 12 am (the ticket office closes at 11 pm)

The Cathedral has been the center of the whole event, because the dome is decorated by an extraordinary series of frescoes painted by Guercino, between 1626 and 1627 which beauty has been emphasized by a new enlightment created by the designer Davide Groppi.
During the exhibition the visitors are exceptionnally going to have the possibility to climb up the inside of the Cathedral's dome to watch closely the six units frescoed with the images of prophets: Haggai, Hosea, Zechariah, Ezekiel, Micaiah, Geremiah, the lunettes about the episodes of Gesus'childhood - Announce to shepherds, Adoration of shepherds, Presentation in the temple, The flight into Egypt - the portrait of eight Sibyls and the frieze on the dome tambour.
The visit will be introduces by multimedia devices, which will allow the visitor to observe in a new way Guercino's masterpiece, an original expererience thanks to 3d viewers. 

On the 4th of june closed the exhibition hosted in the Cappella ducale in Palazzo Farnese, conceived by Daniele Benati and Antonella Gigli, together with a scientific committee including: Antonio Paolucci, Fausto Gozzi and David Stone, in which 20 masterpieces of Guercino will be displayed, in order to show the long experience who brought the artist to represent the Italian art of the 17Th century overseas.

To complete the event, during the month of March, the Civic Museum of Palazzo Farnese hosted a convention where the most important critics of Guercino were involved, in order to discuss the latest discoveries concerning the artist.
