Carte da cucina: le fonti per la storia dell'alimentazione

From 11th October 2020 to 11th February 2021, the sources for the history of food in Piacenza (12th-20th centuries). Documentary exhibition

 

The exhibition seeks to capture the social dimension of nutrition in close connection with the reality of the landscape and production structures also in reference to the culture and mental attitudes of different eras.
The recipes of the kitchens of the great Piacenza families and invitations to banquets for weddings or parties will be exhibited as well as the registers of the school lunches of the Civil Hospices and of the summer camps of the second postwar period.
The medieval table of the banquet offered by the canons of Sant'Antonino to the bishop on the occasion of the feast of the patron saint of July 4, 1334 will be philologically reconstructed on the basis of shopping lists and contemporary chronicles.
